Chef Masa Miyake has brought an incredible sushi restaurant to Portland and has expanded with a noodle house and now catering services. In March 2011 he opened Miyake Farm to evoke the true meaning of farm to table for his restaurants. His flagship concept, Miyake, has been written up in several local and national publications for his unique approach blending traditional Japanese cuisine with Italian and French techniques.
The seafood here was unbelievably fresh and the balance of flavors and textures were spot on. The service is slow so settle in for a long meal as each dish is prepared and delivered when ready. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in selecting number of dishes, recommendations, etc. The menu evolves daily depending on availability from the farm and what is in season but you really can't go wrong here.
