A tapas-style restaurant located in the heart of Portland, they are gaining notoriety for their use of local Maine products and their inventive cocktail program. The bar manager left a successful mixology career in Washington DC to be a part of this project and is offering "boutique" liquors, creative cocktails, and many local brews. Chef Emil Rivera is offering "taste centered" small plates centered around the seasonal products available and also featuring a fromage and charcuterie selection. The atmosphere was casual and simple, the focal point of the restaurant is the bar and the partial open kitchen.
The food presentations were excellent and the service was good. Our personal favorite dishes that evening were the Fried Milk Braised Cauliflower served with a honey soy glaze and the Brussels Sprouts done with salmorra, lardons, and marcona almonds. The clam chowder was finished tableside, the herbed crispy potato cake was served in the bowl and the clam chowder was poured around it leaving the potato cake crisp.
