This was a visit to Osprey for brunch although we have been several times for their great happy hour. The brunch menu had a great variety of small plates and entrees as well as sides and baked goods to choose from. Their Arancini and Ciabatta Stick, shaved Bresola and Garlic Oil served with pizza dough sticks that are excellent. They also serve daily pizzas from the wood burning oven during happy hour. They also do a brunch specific cocktail menu and of course bottomless mimosas for $15.
To start, the veggie platter could be one of the most creative presentation we have ever seen at brunch. The Smoked Salmon Toast and the Farmer's Board is also very unique for a brunch menu. The salmon toast was beautifully executed and the beets made a great addition to this classic combination. The Farmer's Board was pleasantly surprising adding chicken liver's was a bonus
For the brunch main course, the Tavern Sausage Burger is actually made with beef and very good. This was house made beef sausage on an English muffin with smashed avocado, and a fried egg served with crispy fried potatoes and house made ketchup. The kielbasa and benedict were also excellent.
For those of you that are fans of the Ravenous Pig, definitely give Osprey Tavern a try next time you are in town. Chef Joseph Burnett, Executive Sous Chef Elek Kovacks, and Pastry Chef Kristy Carlucci all came from the Ravenous/Cask family. The Bar staff lead by Beverage Director Harrison Cremata is extremely creative and professional plus owners Jason and Sue Chin are hands-on very good operators who also own Seito Sushi across the street in Baldwin Park.
