The Commission began in 1937, advertising in foodservice publications the same year, and continues to work with foodservice operators to partner on featuring menu items with Idaho potatoes, helpful training and preparation tips and menu ideations. We represent the fresh potato market as well as frozen, dehydrated and refrigerated value added.
The Idaho Potato Commission uses funds from Idaho growers, processors and fresh potato shippers to advertise or promote and do research to expand the markets for Idaho sourced potatoes. We grow over 1/3rd of the potatoes produced in the United States, harvesting more than 13 billion pounds of Idaho potatoes each year on about 325,000 acres. The Idaho Potato Commission provides its foodservice customers with promotional materials, education tools such as food service information kits on fresh and processed potatoes, photography and art work of potatoes, sizing charts, food service recipes, etc. We do custom merchandising programs to include table tents, register toppers, appetizer coasters, newspaper print ads, mailers, etc. with groups that use exclusively 100% Idaho sourced potatoes; and will work with corporate on regional test marketing support materials.
